Pickled Veggie Salad
Someone else wrote about this recipe "When I see pickled I think sour, this was the opposite. Too sweet for me. The Brussels sprouts were fun to use. Won't make again."
It takes longer than 20 minutes to prepare and three pans on the stove. I found it to be more work than worth the flavor.
"Things turn out best for people who make the best of the way things turn out."(John Wooden)
"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom." (Marcel Proust)
"Accept reality for what it is, good or bad. This will allow you through the portal of progress ensuring accomplishment and satisfaction." (BMLA)
On a regular basis will be updated information regarding landscape design and garden ideas. As a landscape architect and design consultant it seems the mind never stops learning and the hand never stops creating. I believe that our lives are fluid and as Anne B. Sekel is quoted "you cannot find yourself, only create yourself" and the spaces which surround you.
Every week for the next year I'm going to try a new cake recipe and serve it in the office for the newly called "Cake Break Monday." The recipes will come from the NPR cook book entitled "All Cakes Considered," by Melissa Gray, which was a Christmas gift and challenge given to me for the next year. My friend responsible for the gift knows that I am passionate about being creative with contrasts of texture and color, as well as, driven by a new challenge.
Likewise, I'm doing "Soup-er Sunday." The recipes will come from the Taste of Home "Big Book of Soup" and my goal is to try a new type of soup each week during the colder months in Utah. This book was a Christmas gift from my son and daughter-in-law who recognize my interest in learning to be a well versed and an experienced cook, especially when they come to visit.
During the warmer months I'll be doing "Salad-on Sunday" and trying a new salad recipe from the Taste of Home bi-monthly magazine. There is nothing more delicious than a salad made with fresh vegetables, fruits and home-made dressings.
(Note: The top landscape photo was taken at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona at "The Nature of Glass" installation art display created by Chihuly.)
I became enthusiastic about a career as a landscape architect after completing a botany class as a prerequisite for entrance into pharmaceutical school and subsequent to concluding numerous courses in art and graphic design. I am a licensed landscape architect, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and a 1981 BLA - Utah State University graduate (LAEP). I have worked in all aspects of the profession of landscape architecture including; residential and urban/recreational park design, large-scale planning and public facilitation, and currently provide design services in campus and institutional planning to Brigham Young University (BYU.)
